| 17,000 fans rock Montage with Toby Keith BY JOSH MCAULIFFE STAFF WRITER Published: Saturday, August 9, 2008 4:34 AM EDT In one of his most famous songs, Toby Keith laments about not being as good as he once was. Perhaps that’s true in some areas, but certainly not when it comes to musical abilities. On Friday night, the country megastar brought his “Biggest and Baddest Tour” to Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain. It marked the sixth straight year Mr. Keith has played the mountain, and once again, he did not disappoint, giving the approximately 17,000 fans on hand a fun-filled set with no shortage of good songs and canny showmanship. The night started off around 7:30 with blink-and-you-missed-them performances by Trailer Choir and Carter’s Chord, two up-and-coming acts on Mr. Keith’s Show Dog Nashville record label. Trailer Choir distinguished themselves with their extremely overweight, overall-clad singer, who pulled off an impressive version of “The Worm.” Carter’s Chord, made up of sisters Becky, Emily and Joanna Robertson, showed off some impressive three-part harmonies on their newest single, “Different Breed.” Up next was Montgomery Gentry, who seem poised to one day take Brooks and Dunn’s place as country’s biggest duo. | I love Toby Keith. I was closer this time than any other and he looked great. I loved it when he rubbed his stomach and lifted up his shirt a bit. Montgomery Gentry was also great. I thought it was one of the best yet. I hope in the future to meet Toby in person. He seems like a great guy. I also loved the ending. He is really for our troops and that is great. | I have been to a lot of concerts in my life but this by far was one of the best. His energy and the way he draws the crowd into his show is electrfying. His songs are so happy and he teaches you to remember the "happy" in life. Im just bummed I have to wait so long to see him again. Oh and he's pretty sweet on the eyes. Lucky girl his wife....
