| George Michael (& fans) keep the Faith at Garden Tuesday, July 22nd 2008, 7:01 AM Rothenberg for News George Michael rocks the Garden on Monday night. George Michael hasn't landed a U.S. hit in over a decade. He's been too busy landing on the news pages - and not for the kind of things you put in scrapbooks. None of that stopped the often-arrested star from headlining Madison Square Garden Monday night, even if it was 17 years after his last U.S. tour. Michael acknowledged his long time away at the start of the performance. In the opening "Waiting" he delivered the line: "Here I am/is it too late to try again?" as both an ironic aside and a genuine plea. The singer has spoken at length about why he has been away so long, and how he had lost all but his most loyal fans. He blamed it on his old record company and unfair contracts. Left unmentioned was the fact that his last few CDs couldn't have been duller. Rallying the faithful at this comeback show, Michael proved he's still a robust singer with an appealingly creamy tone. He navigated a strong gospel-pop ballad like "One More Try" with skill. He got the full bubblegum snap out of a Wham! hit like"I'm Your Man." And he has charisma to burn. A cleanly chic stage gave him all the backdrop he needed. . |

| George Michael was amazing. The songs that he sang were perfect and so was he. These so called newspaper reviews are just crap, how many other singers who have been gone as long as GM has and can still sell out large stadiums like has, lets give credit where credit is due. He was great and looks great also. |
