The Courier-Journal

Kid Rock never fails to deliver an entertaining show, unless you're easily offended or the worst kind of music snob. His Louisville performances have always been the biggest, dumbest, most pimpadelic fun possible and that was plenty -- but he upped the ante Saturday night at Freedom Hall.

Rock has transformed himself from a guy who writes catchy choruses into a musician firmly rooted in the traditions of rock, country and hip-hop, with a splash of soul. Saturday's show was an homage to the old Motown revues -- Rock is from Detroit, Motown's home -- with segments dedicated to Dickey Betts, founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, and Rev Run, of Run-D.M.C.
