uffett offers up end-of-summer treat
Jimmy Buffett performed with his Coral Reefer Band, to a laid-back but appreciative crowd at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.
By Marc Hirsh, Globe Correspondent | September 4, 2007

Labor Day traditionally signals the end of summer, but for many, the season's not officially underway until Jimmy Buffett rolls into town. For them, Sunday's show at Gillette Stadium must have made for a particularly brief vacation window.

But urgency has never been on the menu in Margaritaville, and the easiest-going man in show business offered up a party relaxed and carefree enough that nobody realized that this left only one day before the sun and fun came to an end.

Then again, as Buffett helpfully pointed out, most of the crowd did not have to go to work in the morning, and the sold-out audience was determined to squeeze in as much merriment as it could in what time it had.

When Buffett declared of the beachfront Bama Breeze Saloon stage set "This bar only exists in your mind," the man who perfectly embodies one specific strain of boomer dreams seemed to encapsulate his entire appeal.

To a large extent, it was Buffett's earlier material (like "Son of a Son of a Sailor," "Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude" and "Boat Drinks," which he marveled at performing solo acoustic in front of 60,000 people) that felt the most substantial..

Opening act was pretty good.
Jimmy Buffett and band were OK - they did put on a good long show. Last couple of selections were the best.
Sound system at stadium not loud enough to fill the space.
View from upper deck was terrible and video screens were not big enough.
Well let me say this about the above comments. The view from the 7th row on the field was fantastic and the sound was great. Jimmy was in outstand form and the band played some great music. I only wish he played some more of the older songs that made him famous but all in all he was great.
Get Jimmy Buffett stuff here
IF YOU CAN'T PLAY FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE 300 SECTION AT GILLETTE STADIUM, THEN WHY SELL THEM TICKETS. SAME OLD ROCK SHOW, SAME OLD SONGS. BUFFET STOLE ALOT OF MONEY FOR SHITTY SEATS AT $50.00 A PIECE IN THE UPPER SECTION. LUCKILY ALL THE FANS WERE TOO DRUNK TO NOTICE THAT HE REALLY DID SUCK!!! IF ONLY 1/4 OF THE CROWD COULD HEAR THE MUSIC.....
Horrible show. More could have been put in to the sound system. Feel cheated do to bad sound and show. If only I had $400.00 for okay seats. But at "ICON" prices, who could afford it. Choke on your damn cheeseburger you rich over-hyped geezer! Nice sound system my ass!!
can't remember a thing----- way too drunk
