Kenny Chesney

Kenny Chesney found the groove that's won him multiple entertainer of the year awards five songs into his show Friday night at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.

Not that the country singer just went through the motions during his first four numbers; he gave his all. But the high heat and higher expectations held by the sold-out crowd combined to keep Chesney from hitting the right gears through songs like "Keg in the Closet" and "Summertime."

By the time he grabbed a guitar and ripped into "Big Star," Chesney had captured the audience, which was ready to rock with the singer some country radio stations have dubbed "Little Elvis." While Chesney is not a guitarist on a caliber with Keith Urban or Brad Paisley, the instrument seems to give him an extra boost of energy on stage.

Chesney is the best-selling live act in music, probably due to some combination of his catalog of hits like "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem," "Young," and his current No. 1, "Never Wanted Nothing More," and his gym-built muscles showcased by a tight T-shirt and tighter jeans. Whatever it is, it worked for the crowd who sang along to nearly everything he sang, like "Don't Happen Twice" and one of his first hits from (gasp!) more than a decade ago.

Part of Chesney's appeal is his faster party songs like "Keg" and "When the Sun Goes Down" that men like, and the ballads like "The Woman With You" that the women adore. So everyone's happy..

I have never seen anyone do a one song encore, and he didn't sing one of his biggest hits of the past years "Saved Me" very disapointed
