WEST VALLEY CITY -- Forget the hype about country crooner Toby Keith's politics, feud with the Dixie Chicks and all the other redneck nonsense people have labeled him with.
The guy can flat out put on a show.
If there is a better outdoor concert this summer season than the high-energy one Keith and warmup acts Miranda Lambert and Flynntown Train put on Friday night at the Usana Amphitheater, then I'll eat the "I Love This Bar" hat I bought at the show.
From the opening movie commercial featuring Keith as the Big Dog Daddy and Larry the Cable Guy as his sidekick Possum Boy to the patriotic encores American Soldier and Courtesy of the Red White and Blue that ended it, this show had it all. It was free and I love the TOBY but I've been to better concerts and been more entertained, if he didn't have good songs and an awesome voice this concert would of been a no-go forme. Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson- all more entertaining and a cooler stage setup. Where were the big screens to the side of the theator? Toby Keith did good, but for a high priced country star with lots to his name where were all the extras?
