Kid Rock puts on flashy show at Hara

Thursday night at Hara Arena, Kid Rock proved why he is the king of Southern-fried, blue-collar party music and all it represents: rock 'n' roll energy, drinking beer, a passion for the drama of a good wet T-shirt contest and love for the good ol' USA, no questions asked.
When Rock, born Robert James Ritchie, took to the stage before a sold-out crowd, he was noticeably free of the poncho crafted from an American flag that he was sporting during Sunday's Super Bowl half-time show.
At Hara, Rock favored standard baggy jeans and a tank top T-shirt, but the subdued outfit didn't dilute the spectacle of his stage show.
Flash pots exploded, flames and giant sparks shot into the air and scantily clad women appeared on stage from time to time to pole dance on raised platforms while Rock and his Twisted Brown Trucker Band plowed through a diverse set of songs from the singer's last three albums.
The Romeo, Mich., native is a walking contradiction. A former break-dancer with a passion for Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Beastie Boys, the consummate showman entertained the crowd with his good-time music that mixes classic rock, old school rap and modern hard rock.
