the sound was awful. i go to around 15 shows annually and this was such a disappointment....it's like they didn't do a sound check. i had so looked forward to this...but i left early. alot of people did. wish i could get my hundreds back.......such a disappointed long time fan.
The sound was iffy, but adequate to good as the show progressed. I personally loved it since I never got to see them 25+ years ago, given that Columbus had no real larger concert venue then. Sting looks amazing, actually appearing warm and happy and much less arrogant than he sounds in interviews. Stewart was a blast as always and Andy really surprised me, he sounded dead on.

They DID have a wierd start tho, not sounding like themselves for the first 3 songs or so and even goofing something up in the middle of "Synchronicity II." By the next song they hit their stride. Many of the songs were reworked, sometimes this worked nicely, other times I would have enjoyed hearing the songs more like the studio arrangements. In particular, the reggae beat seemed to be missing and instead the songs came off more jazzy or hard rockish. Highlights included "Invisible Sun" with unexpected color photos of children around the world, some looking a bit worse for the wear. This was the only song that featured anything that didn't focus on them and it was very moving indeed. "Message in a Bottle" was amazing too, my favorite and I think their best performance of the night. I am so glad it wasn't one of those first songs they played! Some of the oldies they included were odd choices "Doo Doo Doo, Da, Da, Da, Da" really? Other oldies were right on, such as "Can't Stand Losing You." Near the end of the encore they showed old black and white pictures of themselves on the monitors, a brave move reminding us of their glory days, but fun too. I'm glad I didn't pay for the extra expensive seats but it was worth the money I paid. Just don't expect to step into a time machine.
Get The Police stuff here
I didn't pay for the pricey seats but I wasn't up in the rafters either. I arrived after the Elvis Costello set bc I am not a fan and couldn't imagine his sound filling up the Arena. I see him in a smaller venue.

Anyways.

The sound was just off...Andy's guitar was having issues and you could see him shrugging to whoever's supposed to help with that offstage and it was pretty loud. During a few of the songs, it seemed to drown out Sting, who was having some iffy bass moments too...

Stewart rocked!! Especially with the added instruments on Wrapped Around your Finger......

I left early so I missed Roxanne and Every Breath but with the tinney sound of everything it was enough for me.

I felt bad for the ppl who paid the super pricey floor seat and even a few of the lower bowl prices. Heck, I feel bad for the ppl in the rafter seats.

I have been there a few weeks earlier for another show.....it was fantastic....great sound.

I had looked forward to this for awhile. My friend and I are huge Police fans. It was pretty disappointing.
Sound quality was very poor.
Felt like I was at a high school battle of the bands. The sound was awful, drowning out Elvis' and Sting's voices. I left before the encores wanting my money back.
Better show in Cleveland, July 2007.
