Outstanding concert in Myrtle Beach last night. Taylor and the band (Felix Pollard, drums; Josh Smith, guitar; Al Carty, bass; Brian Gallagher, sax; and Loren Gold, keyboards) were S-I--Z-Z-L-I-N-'!! They are such a tight group -- able to move from the sassy, to the groovy, to the funky, all at a blink of the eye. Taylor is at his best on the tour stage -- AI is left far behind.

In addition to Just to Feel That Way, Heaven Knows, The Right Place, and The Maze, Taylor has added these songs to his own songs from his 3 pre-AI CDs: Compared to What, Dirty Lowdown, Take the Long Way Home. They all have a groovy, funky beat that is pure Taylor.

Great concert by an outstanding artist!
As usual, phenomenal!

Outstanding concert in Myrtle Beach. Taylor and the band are on fire. It doesn't get anay better than Taylor's concerts. Go see him if you get a chance - you won't be sorry.
Taylor Hicks and band put on a fantastic concert!!!! He's alot of fun and looks great...we danced the night away!! There were quite a few dead beats in the audience, though. Oh well, I had an awesome time and would definitely recommend his show to anyone!!!

We came, we saw, we Boogied!!

The venue was comfortably full. In March when he was there I think that it was overfull. You couldn't even get to the bars set up on either side. I am sure they lost drink sales because of that. This time it was full but not crowded. There wer lots of men in the audience and a few kids. Everytime I looked around the men were boogieing as much as the women. That was good to see.

Soon after Taylor came on, I noticed a small balcony on the side of the stage. My daughter told me that Taylor noticed us pointing and waving up there and he turned around to see what we were looking at. Taylor had hat hair pretty bad, but he was still gorgeous!!!

I do remember that during the intro to Lowdown, that he said " this song always makes me want to go buy an old skating rink ". His version of Don't Let Me Down has improved vastly over the version he did during the AI tour ( IMHO ).

The encore was great. I was hopin for the stool, and we got it. He was sitting on the stool, and someone threw a pair of panties. He realized what they were and swiveled his feet around to the other side of the stool. Then someone threw the room key card, I don't think he realized what was coming at him, and it startled him a little. He kind of ducked. That was when he made the comment about needing chicken wire like back in the old days. He did a long tease intro to Take The Long Way Home and asked if we could guess what this old song was. The place erupted when we finally figured out what was coming. Then we also got the killer version of Soul Thing. I don't think he really wanted to leave. I know we didn't want him to!!

All in all, a great, great enjoyable night !
WOW! This was my 4th show and it was absolutely off the charts! The concert at the same HOB in March was extremely packed (sold out), so much so that you could barely see. This concert was soooo much better (not that the March concert was not great) due to the fact that there was a large crowd but was still very comfortable and I had a great location up against the wall of the pit on the steps looking over everyones heads....AWESOME VIEW! One of the first things he said was "thank you for standing up". I thought that was very telling....he definitely feeds off the energy of the crowd....the sit down venues are a little too sedate. When he kicked off with Rockin Pneumonia... I knew I was in for a night of jammin! I brought along a friend that is an idol fan (voted for Kat) and she was blown away by the concert. She could not believe his energy level and the fact that he hardly stops to take a breath. It was the first time that I got to see Low Down and Take the Long Way Home... they were fantastic! But boy oh boy was I excited when that stool came out and so did Loren and Taylor...I knew what was coming...and boy did he deliver. He should perform The Right Place at the end of every show with just the piano...very soulful. I also got my first chance to go to the buses....and all the band members came out except Felix (which by the way...during the encore he came out after Taylor sang The Right Place and hugged Taylor...wonder what that is about???). Taylor was very gracious and signed for everyone...all the way down the line. He posed for some pix, but not with fans. And he said that he loves to perform at this venue (and it showed). He is gorgeous up close and his voice when he speaks is what I would think Elvis would sound like, incredibly sexy southern drawl....ahhhh. To sum it up...it was a great experience and Taylor truly left it all on the stage (which in his book, he states that he thinks that is what a performer should do).
i was there taylor was in fire like a hot poker he was amazing . he keep the audience dancing and he feed on the audience reaction that is why he is one of a kind like elvis was. i gave this concert a number 10 a awesome concert
The Taylor Hicks Band rocked the House of Blues! Great, great show by a fantastic musician and his red hot band. I couldn't stop dancing!
There is nothing like Taylor Hicks and his band LIVE anywhere in the USA and this Myrtle Beach concert proves it.

The guitarist ( was the name Josh ?) was awesome and could front his own band anytime. Loren Gold is an outstanding keyboard artist and these two together with the rest of the band and Taylor's harmonica artistry make for a splendid soul filled evening.

One of the best shows I've been to this year.
TAYLOR AND HIS BAND ARE "THE BEST"....NOONE CAN COMPARE.
This was one of the best concerts I have ever attended.

The highlight of the show was the outstanding rendition of THE RIGHT PLACE.
This was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. The near capacity crowd loved every minute of it.

The highlight of the show was the outstanding and sincere rendition of THE RIGHT PLACE which was evocative of the great Ray Charles (for whom the song was originally written ).

If Taylor ever comes to your part of town, don't miss his show. I've been to lots of concerts and this one ranks up there with the best among them.
FANTASTIC -- Short summary of this concert.

Everyone has described what a great concert Taylor and the guys gave us so I’ll only add the things that stood out for me. I get so caught up in the music and the experience that I never remember the order of the songs or all the extras that Taylor packs into a concert. I do remember him starting off with Rockin’ Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu. He must have known there were lots of the Boogie Board people there ready to dance. The most precious moment of the beginning of the show was hooverhasit’s reaction. Sorry darling, but I’ve got to tell what you said. Now remember everyone, this was hooverhasit’s very first time to see Taylor live. She had seen him on TV and on numerous videos, but never in the flesh. Well, when he took the stage and started belting out Rockin’ Pneumonia, she turned to me and said, “Why he’s just a baby!” Now how precious is that? I didn’t know if I should laugh or just hug her. I think I smiled and said yes, but I might have laughed a little.
I know Give Me Tonight was next. I still think this song should have been released to radio. I actually voted for it way back when GC had his song poll. It’s a great radio song. I don’t remember what was next, but I do remember swaying to Just To Feel That Way and thoroughly enjoying The Deal, Taylor’s original with the prettiest melody to me. He always does such a good job with that song. The crazy dance in the middle of Taylor’s and Josh’s guitar/harp duel was hilarious. The whole band was having fun as well as the crowd. One thing I’ve really noticed as a big difference between the spring concerts and the summer concert is how the band can be loose but tight at the same time. The songs that are perfect for extended jam sessions are being fully taken advantage of by this kick-ass band now. Watching Taylor and the guys get totally into the music is mesmerizing to watch. Sometimes when Josh hits those high-pitched screaming notes and holds them out longer than I think is humanly possible I find myself holding my breath waiting for the crash of the wave. And then suddenly the music stops and I’m left in delightful anticipation for what Taylor has planned next. Those wonderful tags and medleys keep me on the edge, like a kid waiting to see what’s in the next box at a never-ending party. I know he sang Wherever I Lay My Hat. It was good to hear that one again, and the Heaven Knows then Maze combo with all those delicious tags never fails to disappoint.

he one song that I would have traveled 500 miles and paid $500 to hear was The Right Place. Taylor was standing near Loren and indicated for him to play the beginning chords. He sang the first word and stopped, waiting for the crowd to sing the rest, which we did. Then he sang the beginning word of the second line and we finished. He said “one more time” and sang the beginning again, letting us sing the rest of the line before taking over and really getting into the song. Taylor didn’t just sing this song. It was much more. After Brian’s saxophone solo, Taylor walked up to the mic stand and put the microphone in the stand, finishing the song right there. He didn’t sing it. He belted it out. He wailed it! I was in total awe. Taylor was so into the song and the music that I felt like he was completely in his own world at that time; we were on the outside looking in. At every concert I have been to there has been a magic moment when Taylor has blocked out everything else for me until there is only his music or his voice. Sometimes it was with the harp. At Dallas at the House of Blues that moment was during The Right Place and it was the voice. Once he stepped up to the mic there was nothing else in the room for me but the music and his voice. It was wonderful; it was just wonderful. It was very reminiscent of his performance of You Are So Beautiful on AI for me. What a wonderful gift for my last concert of the tour.

I hadn’t really recovered from The Right Place before Taylor slammed into The Runaround and had the crowd on their feet and dancing.
It’s Empathy.
It’s Ecstasy.
It’s Love.

I have many reason for loving Taylor, some of them deeper than I care to type at the moment (But if you look back enough, and/or ask me when I’m in a good mood, you’ll find out.) made me so grateful that I had to pray to God, right then and there, and thank him for this pure, rare, and precious happiness that is live music by Taylor Hicks.
I too was dragged by my aunt to this concert. I never was a fan of American Idol because I thought that it was not valid to pit one person singing one genre against another... sort of like comparing apples to oranges.

That said, I have found a new respect for Taylor after watching this show. If there's one thing you can say for Taylor Hicks it is this -- he loves his audience and gives his all --- raw passion, energy and connection to his own songs and his covers.

I entered Myrtle Beach preparing to be bored, I left quite entertained and will be willing to come back to another show.
This was a fun concert. Me and my girlfriend sat at the 4th row with a great view of the entire stage. Myrtle Beach has a capacity of 2,000 and it was (with the exception of a few seats), near capacity.

The set list was a mix of Taylor Hicks' own compositions and covers from great blue eyed soul artists of the past.

This made for a thoroughly entertaining evening. I agree with the previous poster who loved his rendition of THE RIGHT PLACE. I still do not understand why his managers chose JUST TO FEEL THAT WAY and HEAVEN KNOWS as his singles (good as they are ). THE RIGHT PLACE clearly defines Taylor Hicks' genre and ought have been his single.

I am not a diehard Taylor Hicks fan but have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this concert.

I am not a fan of American Idol, or music competitions for that matter. I don't think it is right to pit artist against artist to see who is the best. Although I do see a benefit from participating in a contest. Hopefully better exposure, and more gigs. However, choosing who is the best artist does little to show who is really "better" ( note the quotes ).

I was invited to watch this show and being a blues fan and a fan of Hicks' genre, I arrived at the show with anticipation.

After the show, I can say that I like Taylor Hicks' style and he seems to have a respect for the music. So he is ok in my book. A person who lives for the music and busts his buns performing ( as he did in this concert ) has gotta cause you to tip your hat off.

Awesome performer! Would see Taylor again in a heartbeat!
This is why Taylor Hicks is the best. He sounds good on the radio, but you have got to watch him perform LIVE to fully appreciate his music.

This is my second Taylor Hicks concert and he just keeps getting better.
