This concert was the single biggest disapointment in my life. Bob Dylan made zero effort to interact with the crowd. That would be fine if he performed at all, but he was very unenthusiastic about the whole experience. The only redeeming quality of the concert was watching the acid tripping hippy on one side and talking with a local couple to my left. The gentleman and his beautiful wife made the experience almost tolerable.
Bob Dylan was at his finest at this concert. He doesn't interact with the crowd...ever. He just gets up there and creates his music. If you don't dig you don't dig. He is never going to get up there and relive 1963 for you, but he will give you some of his new music in a beautiful way. This was the 15th time that I have seen him and by far the best. His band was tight, the versions of the songs were beautiful and he picked some great songs to perform. He was dancing, playing the harmonica and having a good time. His voice was in fine form. I teared up during Every Grain of Sand and Nettie Moore. Masters of War was especially poignant.

The lady or guy who wrote in that is was a total disapointment must have been one of many of those best of Bob Dylan cd owners. The guy is not going to get up there and play 30 year old tunes exactly like he recorded them. You can always spot out those people who just do not get Dylan. I saw both shows at Red Rocks and they were both incredible. He always pulls out some gems and puts a little twist on them. HIs voice was awesome. If your a Dylan you already know he isnot going to inter act with the crowd. Why would he want to, the whole 60's thing was a total joke to him. He never wanted to be or claimed to be the philisophical leader of the times. He just wrote and played the songs. The press and people put all that on him. You just have to be a deeper Dylan fan to truly enjoy. Who would have ever thought he would have pulled out a Dead song, Friend of the Devil. I wonder if this person even noticed that. I have seen him 8 times and never heard him sing someone elses song. It was fantastic, As I said you can always spot out the best of Dylan fans, their loss.
These people are just unwilling to admit that Dylan is past his prime. His voice is gone. Being from the 60s and having seen him up close and personal in a small venue, we know that he isn't going to perform for the crowd. Being true Dylan fans we were totally disappointed that knowing he doesn't need the money, why would he even be there - trying to relive his past? We just don't get it! It is time for him to retire to the studio only
I don't really care if he interacts with the crowd, but isn't it ironic that a great artist like Dylan, who is know for the words in his songs, sings in a way so that you cannot make out what the hell he is saying. I know the words to his songs anyway, but you almost wish that there was a big screen with subtitles running across the stage!
I thought his show was outstanding. The way music should be presented. Dylan played WITH his band and they sounded great. The songs he chose were poignant. I had chills when they performed Masters of War. I had a really super great time. Thank you Bob.
The quality of his live shows are beginning to hurt his legacy. He'll always be great for what he's put out there, but he should quit touring to focus on studio recordings.
Worst Concert I have ever seen. Dylans voice was shot, who or what put him up to this concert?
You people are nuts, this was a great show. New versions of classic songs, and that whiskey/cigarette voice that conveys so much experience. I am a huge Dylan fan and would have only been disapointed if he HAD done something predictable.
I don't have a problem with him doing new versions of his songs, but when the new versions are performed so that you can't understand what he's saying, that's not right. I know that this is nothing new, and that he's been doing this for a while now, but I'm at a loss as to why he does it. Obviously, he can sing more clearly when he wants, but he more often chooses not to. If he doesn't like performing, then he should stop.
Dylan has always been controversial. As you read the reviews here nothing has changed about that. The fact is, Dylan is an icon and usually a few steeps ahead of his audience. After 50 years of music, he still plays with enthusiasm. He is light years ahead of most bands and always will be until he's gone. Enjoy him while you can. He's a legend and great musician/writer/poet. Thank God for Bob Dylan.
Once again, this is not a question of his status as a legend and an Americon icon, but please do not draw an analogy between 'Dylan goes electric' and 'Dylan goes unintelligible'. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan, and I know all of the words to his songs. But is it too much to ask for him to sing such that we can understand what he's saying? If he really wants to be controversial, he should start singing more clearly. Now that would certainly make a few headlines!
