My take on the Idol concert in Pittsburgh was a decent family show. I thought the opening with Blake in costume as a stage crew person was very cute. It got people screaming. The singing of the performers were very good. The sound was fine. The pairing of the performers was really, quite weird. I think that some of these performers will never be heard of again in 2 or 3 years time. The crowd favorite was Blake Lewis, the beat boxer from Seattle. When Blake performed the crowd got energy. That kid will absolutely be the most successful idol of this group. During all of the other performances, the audience stayed seated and listened attentively. I have never attended a concert with an audience that just sat there. I wonder if this is how all of their shows were. Jordin Sparks, the chosen American Idol has a beautiful voice. She finished the show with 3 solos, all of which were sang on the Idol show. We didn't see much of her until then. That was a little disappointing. Phil Stacey was awesome with his "America the Beautiful" & "Blaze of Glory". He has a powerful voice. Sanjaya was really fun to watch. I understand why the young girls like him. He is really a cutie. Lakisha Jones sang a Whitney Houston song, "I Will Always Love You". She got a major applause, but not quite a standing ovation. Chris Richardson was ok. I think it was a big mistake for him to sing "This Love" by Maroon Five. If you remember, Blake sang this on the show. Chris didn't compare with his vocals or Beatboxing. I'm thinking he's a Blake "wanna be". It's just not working for me. Blake will either help Chris's career or Chris will hurt Blake's career if they continue to perform together. As for Haley, Gina, Chris S., and believe it or not, Melinda, they were fine. Nothing magnificent that would make me ever want to see them perform again. It will be interesting to look back at my own review in 5 years or so to see who I even remember. | |
